Rob has 35 years of clinical experience in testing, diagnosing and treating auditory and vestibular conditions, he specialises in treatment of tinnitus and all types of hearing disorders. In addition, for the last 25 years he has had a special clinical interest in developing initiatives used to conserve auditory health and prevent induced tinnitus or deafness. Along with colleagues he created the regions only dedicated Tinnitus Management Clinic with access to the latest beneficial technologies. His interest in motor sport and skills in audiology brought him to the attention of Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), who commissioned him to research the issue of noise exposure and hearing conservation measures for motorsport and Formula One. He has presented papers on the subject both in the UK and overseas, and is an inaugural member of an international committee created by the Health & Safety Executive concerned with developing and implementing improved procedures involved in hearing protection. In 2020 he has written new guidelines on effective hearing conservation for all UK musicians and performers. He sits as a specialist on UK Standards Committee and is a UK representative and expert specialist on European Committees creating international standards for hearing protection. He prides himself in helping to innovate how hearing healthcare is considered and addressed, and continues to drive the necessity for recognition of improvements in these aspects of health.
