When I first experienced this condition nearly 5 years ago I thought it would just go away, but as it became apparent that it would not go I tried everything I could. Acupuncture, reflexology and hypnosis, all very good but the tinnitus still remained. At times I thought my head was going to explode, it was with me all the time and led to sleep disturbance. I felt I was living isolated in my own little world of misery. Then I saw the article in the press and made an appointment, which I received very quickly. At the appointment I underwent tests and my condition was thoroughly assessed. Everything about tinnitus was explained to me, and recommendations as to the therapy appropriate for me was made. As there would be no charge if my device were not successful, I had nothing to loose and EVERYTHING to gain. I waited about three weeks for my tiny sound processing unit to arrive, and although it was very discreet & light weight, it felt the size of a house brick when I first positioned it in my left ear, but I was overjoyed that immediately my tinnitus disappeared and I could hear clearly again. I wore it all my waking hours and after about 8 days I began to be less aware of it and every day after a little less. Yes it did take some time to get used to, but now I don’t even feel it’s there, and when I do think about it, it’s only because of the good it’s doing and the huge relief it gives me. I now manage the device quite easily, and all my family have commented how I am a different person, or more accurately that I am my old self again, “the old mum’s back”. For many years I have suffered tinnitus in both ears, so much so it has nearly sent me mad. The more I stressed myself out about it the louder it became. Since an accident about 4 years ago I have suffered from constant hissing tinnitus. At night it was so loud that it made sleeping difficult, and during the day it made concentrating on anything else almost impossible. Sometimes it has seemed unbearable and has made me feel quite depressed. I have tried a number of treatments from various sources in the past but without success.
